Synopsis Castella is a man who lives without zest, without culture and without passion. He reluctantly accepts a trip to the theatre which changes his entire existence. He becomes unexpectedly rapt by the production and falls for Clara, an actress whom he previously only knew as a slightly officious English teacher who threatened to make learning a language about as pleasurable as a day at the dentist's. Castella learns that life can offer more than he had ever realised, and as he begins to change and move on, shaving away his heavy moustache and heavier inhibitions, he discovers a youthful, high-spirited happiness.
