‘Graffiti Street', documentary film by Sergej Kreso about LaBanda, one of the most important bands of Sarajevo alternative rock scene in the late eighties, will be screened out of competition in this year's ZFF documentary section. LaBanda was part of a Sarajevo new-wave & alternative scene, playing, at that time, atypical music based on acoustic piano and inspired by film music, musicals, jazz and blues.
At the time, they recorded a number of singles which were to be compiled for their first album. The war in Bosnia interrupted their work, LaBanda ceased to exist, and never finished the recording of their album. In the chaos of the Balkan wars at the beginning of 1990's they all lost contact. They are living in five different countries and they never saw each other for 15 years. Suddenly, after many years, old friends from LaBanda tracked each other through the Internet and posed a question: Why wouldn't we try to finish our album? That is where the story of ‘Graffiti Street' begins...
Film is named after a LaBanda song 'Graffiti Street' which you can listen here, or you can wait until 5th ZFF kicks off and listen to La Banda during live concert that will take place during the festival.
