‘Snow’ running for the EFA a |
The film ‘Snow’ directed by Aida Begić that will be featured as a part of this year’s main program has recently been nominated for the European Discovery award by the European film academy. This award is handed to young and perspective directors for their first movie, and this year three more directors are competing for the award with Aida Begić: Steve McQueen from Britain (‘Hunger’), Turkish director Seyfi Teoman (‘Summer Book’) and Sergey Dvortsevoy from Kazakhstan (‘Tulpan’).
An incredible story about the survival of residents in an eastern Bosnian village, Slavno, throughout 1997, brought the director a title of the first representative of magical realism from Bosnia & Herzegovina (see interview) as well as another grand prix on the Critique Week of the past Cannes film festival as well as the main jury award on the Chungmuro Film Festival in Seoul. Trailer of 'Snijeg' that was presented before the French premiere of the film can be seen here.
