Winners of 6th ZFF |
RUMBA / Dominique Abel, Fiona Gordon, Bruno Romy / Belgium, France – Golden Pram award for best feature film and 5000 € ' This multi-talented trio once again convinced the jury with their original and recognizable film voice. Their use of choreography and sheer presence of characters on screen become powerful tools in telling of this story about how optimism can overcome even the most tragic events in life, pointing out this light and colourful comedy. This film is a great inspiration both for the audience and other filmmakers, showing possibilities in original telling of stories.'
THE DESERT WITHIN / DESIERTO ADENTRO Rodrigo Plá / Mexico – Special mention in the feature film competition 'The jury was compelled to give a special mention because of attention to detail, inventiveness and surprising maturity that this debutant showed in accepting this powerful and epic story about a soul’s journey to redemption. The grittiness of the world that it describes and that the characters in the film endure is irresistible and has touched us in a special way.'
CHEESE... / Huseyin Tabak / Austria, Germany – Golden Pram award for best short feature film and 1500 € 'A film that impressed us with its simplicity and uniqueness in showing the horrific experiences of war. This film possesses a sharpness and humour that touched us by emphasizing the brittle balance of human existence and our survival instinct.'
THE RED RACE / Chao Gan / China, Germany – Golden Pram award for best documentary film and 1500 € 'An unique, dramaturgically rounded, documentary portrait of the decisiveness of a nation that wishes to be number one in the world. We were especially impressed with the author’s compassion as an asset and a way to use the language of film in showing methods that inevitably brings in question the very goals of the red race.'
BAD DAY FOR CAPTAIN COOK / Marin Juranić, Hana Veček – Golden Pram award for best Croatian film in the Checkered programme and 1000 € 'A woman’s dice fell on this film and skilfully erased all borders between reality and fiction. With help from three men; a charming and talented child, a sleepy father and a watchful director, one mother who represented Captain Hook left the impression of Tinkerbell. But a Tinkerbell that does not belong to a fairy tale, but to our everyday life. '
Vip is providing all financial awards in the main international competition programme. Monetary awards in the Checkered programme are provided by the magazine BUG.
