New-old cinema in the city center had a most vivid life

It has been a year since the successful ZFF and Croatian Film Club Associations action Give me cinema! in which Croatian film and cultural public as well as all film buffs sent an appeal to the city authorities to buy out the cinema and keep it for film purposes. At the beginning of 2008 the management of the cinema was given to Zagreb Film Festival. Apart from hosting film feasts such as Human Rights Film Festival, Queer Zagreb, Subversive Film Festival, Animafest, Jewish Film Festival, it also brought back in its recognizable red and gold interior not only long lost audience, but also new young audience. The cinema is dedicated to screening Croatian and regional films, works of international independent production, but also to organizing interesting public discussions, lectures and exhibitions. It is clear - cinema EUROPA lives again! To all film buff's joy and all advocates of better quality of city's cultural offer. With the last year's Zagreb Film Festival cinema EUROPA set out to a new adventure and it will host a part of the festival program this year too. The overture to the festival program of the last year's ZFF was photo exhibition "Still Frame" dedicated to great cinematographers, while this year it is "Ciao Ana!". The exhibition marks the hundredth anniversary of birth of great Italian actress and Oscar winner Anna Magnani.
